Excel allows us to perform many functions with numeric or alphanumeric data; like multiplying on a spreadsheet. On the other hand, another function that it offers us is the possibility of hiding different elements of the Excel interface; so that our spreadsheets are personalized to our work area and thus be able to use tools that adapt to what we need.

It should be noted that it is important to know what are the elements that you do not want to be displayed when creating a spreadsheet. Because, to hide some elements of the interface, there are different methods. However, here at miracomosehace we will show you step by step each of these methods so that you can hide the different elements of the interface.

Hide Excel UI Elements from the Ribbon

These options are found on the View tab in your Excel spreadsheet. Within these is

  • Formula bar: This bar shows the formulas to work in Excel; In order for you to hide this bar, you must remove the selection from the box.
  • Ruler: It is present when in the page layout mode, a horizontal and a vertical ruler can be displayed. But, if you don’t want to observe it; just uncheck the check box for the Ruler. This will allow you to have more space on the screen.
  • Titles: This function gives you the option to hide the rows of the spreadsheet and the column headings of your Excel sheet.
  • Grid lines: This option allows the lines that separate cells to be displayed. But, if you don’t want this function to be shown; you just have to uncheck the box.

Another function that you can use to have more space on your screen so that you can better observe the data in the spreadsheet; is to hide the ribbon. You can achieve this with a shortcut provided by the keyboard; the combination of the keys is CTRL + F1 so that once you are in Excel, you can hide the ribbon.

Hide Excel interface elements from the dialog box

Another way to hide interface elements in Excel is through the dialog box; which you can find in Excel Options . You can open this option from File and select Options. Once there, click on advanced options ; once here slide the bar down, until the option Show.

Show option

  • Show all taskbar windows: This feature allows an icon to appear on the taskbar in Windows; for each of the spreadsheets that are open. But, to hide this feature and you want it to only show a single Excel icon; just uncheck the box.
  • Cells without comments or indicator: This option allows comments to appear in the cells or a triangle in the upper right corner; which warn us about a comment on a specific cell. So that these do not appear only to mark the box without comments or indicators.

  • Sheet tab: By hiding this option, the small tabs that are in the lower left part of the book with the name of the spreadsheets; they will no longer be observed.
  • Scroll bars: This option hides the vertical and horizontal scroll bar of the spreadsheet.

  • Show zero cells that have a zero value: Unchecking this option causes all cells in your spreadsheet that have a zero value to be empty.
  • Page breaks: The dotted lines within a printed spreadsheet or in a document preview; represent page breaks. To hide them just uncheck this option.
