Although Facebook has been the reference social network on the Internet for years, that does not prevent the developers of the platform from continuing to seek new ways to innovate. We have recently seen the arrival of dark mode in the Facebook app, and there has even been a facelift in the interface to update and give it a more modern touch, which it was badly needed (by the way, if you want to go back to the version classic Facebook still can).

Why are there no ads in this post? This item is ad-free thanks to our sponsor today, AliExpress. Take advantage of the thousands of offers that you will find this Black Friday on AliExpress from November 23 to December 1, and take home in just 3 days from AliExpress Plaza a Xiaomi Redmi Note Pro for € 185.62, a Samsung Galaxy TAB with a 24 % off or a 55 ”LG Smart TV at a reduced price, among many other featured products from leading brands.

Well, no matter how much the interface is updated and dark mode is integrated, there is something on Facebook that never changes: you cannot download videos. At least not natively. If we want to download a video to watch it offline or share it with friends outside the social network, we will have no choice but to use an external tool.

How to download Facebook videos for free and in HD quality

It is important to clarify that all tools designed to download Facebook videos only work when the video is public . If it is a private video shared by a friend, or a friend of a friend, we simply cannot download it.

If we search a little we will surely find several applications on the Internet that promise to also download private videos, although they usually do not work (and the worst thing is that most are paid). Take it into account before leaving the money in these applications!

The tool that we are going to recommend you next is called Getfvid, it is a 100% free web utility and it works without problems both on PC, Android and iOS.

Step # 1: Login to Facebook and locate the video

To download the video, the first thing we have to do is enter Facebook. Log in to https://www.facebook.com/ with your user account and search for the video that interests you. To do this, you can browse your news feed until you find it or write the name of the user who published it in the Facebook search engine located at the top of the screen.

Step # 2: Copy the video link

Once the video is located, make sure it is a public video. You can distinguish a public video from a private one by looking at the icon that appears right next to the publication date. If the icon is shaped like a planet, it is public and can be downloaded.

If it is in the form of a person, it means that it is private, and therefore, the download is not possible.

Then, click on the video to load it in full screen and copy the URL address of the publication (Ctrl + C if you have a keyboard or long press + copy if you access from your mobile).

Step # 3: Download the video from Getfvid

Now for the interesting part. Enter the Getfvid website and paste the URL you just copied to Facebook into the search engine (Ctrl + V from the keyboard or by long pressing + paste if we access from a mobile phone). Click on the green ” Download ” button.

We will automatically be redirected to a page where we can choose to download the video in HD, in normal quality or just audio . Hover over the desired option, right-click with the mouse and select ” Save link as … “. Choose the folder where you want to save the file, click on ” Save ” and the video will be downloaded in MP4 format in the indicated path.

In addition to Getfvid, there are other online tools for downloading Facebook videos, some quite well known as SaveFrom.net, although the latter today only lets you download free videos in low-quality format.

If we search the Android Play Store we will also find a good handful of dedicated apps, such as the Video Downloader for Facebook and FB Video Downloader, both free and with a rating above 4.5 by the community.
