Using a web browser has become part of our daily routine, since from there we can access different platforms to pay for services, banking transactions, educational pages, fun and much more.

With the increase in the use of browsers, it is necessary to integrate different utilities within them, such as pop-ups, plugins and extensions in your Google Chrome browser .

How to Allow or Unblock Pop-ups in Google Chrome Browser

Pop- ups or Pop-Ups , are a series of windows outside the main window and that are quite uncomfortable, especially since we have not requested that they be opened and that usually contain advertising information that is not of our interest. Fortunately, these pop-ups or Pop-Ups can be easily disabled.

In addition, sometimes they occupy the entire page, which is annoying and makes us lose time and concentration on what we are working on. It is also important to note that some sites use pop-up windows to allow access to external content that may be useful .

Types of pop-up windows

There are several types of pop-ups or popups, the most common being:

  • Pop-ups , which are displayed on the window that is active and generally only offer advertising.
  • Submerged , these are more dangerous because they open below the main window and have hidden code that can exert control over the browser or the sites visited.

One of the advantages that Google Chrome offers you is that it allows you to block pop-up windows in advance and thus prevents them from appearing on your screen automatically. If you block a pop-up window, the pop-up blocked icon will appear in the address bar.

And if at any time you want to allow them, you can also do it. If the windows keep popping up even after you’ve locked them, there’s a possibility that your device has malicious software on it.

How to block or allow pop-ups?

If you want to block pop-ups, open Chrome and once there:

  • Click on the button to access the menu, symbolized by three horizontal lines, located at the far right of the browser’s address bar
  • Then select the “ Settings ” option, which is found at the bottom of the menu, which will open the browser’s configuration options page.
  • Once there, go to the bottom of the page, the link to “Advanced Settings” (Show advanced settings) and click to get more configuration options.
  • In the advanced configuration options, go down to the “Privacy” section (Privacy) and click the ” Site Settings ” button (Content settings …). This will open a window for you to edit the content options.
  • Options content, go down to the section “Popups” (Pop-ups). If you want to prevent the pages you browse from showing pop-up windows, click on the ” Blocked ” option (selected by default in a new browser installation), or if you want to allow it, select the ” Allowed ” option.

If you want to manage exceptions, you can click on “Manage exceptions…”, and add URLs or URL patterns (like [*.] Koquisabout.com to, for example, allow pop-ups from koquisabout.com).

You can specify these patterns to allow or block pop-ups , since if for some reason an Internet page that you visit does not allow to open pop-up windows, you can add that particular page to the list of exceptions and thus you will be indicating that you want to block all pop-ups from added page.

Google Chrome shows you that a pop-up window has been blocked through a small icon at the far right of the address bar of Internet pages. By clicking on this icon you will be able to see the pop-ups that have been blocked on the page, and you can also directly click on any that you want to be displayed.

Also, from this screen you are given the option to indicate an exception for the page you are visiting , or if you wish, go directly to the pop-up window management window.
